Introduction to DFSee 16.9
DFSee 16.9 is a generic disk, partition, and filesystem utility for maintenance and data-recovery.
Overview
DFSee 16.9 allows users to create an exact clone or a compressed image file from their whole disk or a single partition. Users can browse through directories, view, copy, or recover files directly from the browser. It supports partition-tables (FDISK, LVM) and various filesystems including (V)FAT, FAT-32, EFAT, HPFS, NTFS, JFS, EXT2/3/4, HFS+, and provides some functionality for ReiserFS, XFS, SWAP, and GRUB.
Features
- Automate collection of information to 'UNDO' an accidental FDISK operation or other partitioning related disasters with the DFSDISK command/menu-item/script.
- Save and restore ALL partitioning information in a regular file for easy recovery operations.
- Imaging capabilities allow users to save whole disks, partitions, or parts of partitions to an image file, either RAW or in a compressed format.
- View or retrieve individual files from backup image files through directory/file browsing functionality.
Use Cases
DFSee 16.9 can be used as a replacement for classic FDISK and (OS/2) LVM programs, with support for MBR as well as GPT style tables. It serves as a complete replacement for partitioning tools in various operating systems such as DOS, OS/2, Win9x, Windows-NT/2000/XP/7/8/9/10, and Linux. The tool is also a replacement for the LVM utility in eComStation, ArcaOS 5.x, and OS/2 versions 4.50 or newer.
Additionally, DFSee 16.9 includes a fully interactive partition-table editor (PTEdit) for both classic MBR-style partitioning and GPT. It offers unique commands to display information and fix partition-table and LVM-related problems. Organizations can benefit from the FDISK functionality combined with scripting capabilities for automatic and unattended roll-out scenarios.
